Charity Garden Open Day: Braevallich Farm
Two gardens, one at the farm and another 300 metres above. The former is approx. 1.5 acres and developed over the last 40 years; its principal features include dwarf rhododendron, azaleas (evergreen and deciduous), large drifts of various primula and meconopsis, and mixed herbaceous/shrubs; there is also quite a serious kitchen garden. The garden above the farm, at approx. 7 acres, was developed over the last 25 years out of a birch and sessile oak wood and is a traditional glen garden intersected by two pretty burns with waterfalls. The peaceful setting and varied topography create attractive vistas. Plantings are predominantly rhododendron (120 plus varieties), deciduous azalea (30 varieties), camellia, magnolia, eucryphia, and many different shrubs and trees with large drifts of bluebell and other bulbs. Directions: SE of Loch Awe on B840, 15 miles from Cladich, 7 miles from Ford.
