The Art of Gilding by John Brass
When other precious metals have turned to powder through beating, pure gold remains intact and continues to spread until it is just 250000th of an inch in thickness. This property is the basis for allowing gilded objects to give the illusion they are made of solid gold. John will give a talk illustrating this ancient technique of gilding with gold leaf – an art unchanged since the time of the Pharaohs.
