Kedleston Hall - Make your own Drop Spindle
Use tools to make your own drop spindle from wood, then learn how to use it to spin fleece into yarn. Suitable for children aged 5 and over. Drop spindle is an ancient tool for turning fibre into thread and a simple alternative to using a spinning wheel. Using some bush craft skills to use tools such as saws to make your own spindle from wood, you will then learn how to use it to turn sheep's fleece into yarn.
