Hot Cross Bunnies Easter Hunt
The River Don Engine was used to drive a heavy plate mill. The workers at the River Don Works would throw birch twigs at the hot metal to lift scale off the steel.
There is a story that once a rabbit was caught up in the birch twigs and started running around the factory until the workers chased it out - it must have been a very hot cross bunny!
