Te Deum - Music by Vaughan Williams, Handel and Telemann

Allegri will begin their summer programme this year by commemorating the death 250 years ago of Georg Philipp Telemann, a composer who was compared favourably in his lifetime with Bach and Handel. From his vast list of compostions, the choir and players will be performing the extensive first chorus from his cantata ‘Machet die Tore Weit’. This chorus will be followed by a canticle by Ralph Vaughan Williams - his Te Deum for the enthronement of the Archbishop of Canterbury in 1928 – and the first
7.30pm. Free.
