Sheppey Ship’s Figure Heads Exhibition

Sheerness Dockyard built naval ships from 1677 to 1903, many of these ships had figureheads right up until 1900. Jeremy Thornton is giving a talk at Sheppey History Society on 28th September at 7.45 at Minster Bethel Congregational Church, Chapel St, Minster on Sea, Sheerness ME12 3Q about Figureheads and about the local figurehead carvers who made them for the navy. This exhibition features photographs and paintings of figureheads by Janys Thornton.
