The People of Cirencester Abbey

Afternoon Talk with Emma Stuart and Craig Jones

Cirencester Abbey or St Mary's Abbey, Cirencester in Gloucestershire was founded as an Augustinian monastery in 1117 on the site of an earlier Anglo-Saxon church. This afternoon talk will draw upon a fusion of evidence exploring the people associated with the medieval Abbey. We will discuss excavated finds and data analysis from human remains, largely uncovered during the 1964-66 excavations.
