Bedford: The Young Mozart
Zsolt-Tihamér Visontay conducts the Philharmonia Orchestra in a programme featuring Mozart's Seventh Serenade "Haffner" and Haydn's Symphony No.47 "The Palindrome".
The young Mozart wrote his Haffner serenade as music for a party: a friend’s wedding in Salzburg. So it’s a glimpse into an 18th-century world of jubilant trumpets, spirited dance tunes and elegant romance, all drenched in summer sunshine. The Philharmonia’s Concert Master Zsolt-Tihamér Visontay leads from his violin — just as Mozart himself would have done — and launches the celebrations with a great burst of imagination and humour from Mozart’s friend Joseph Haydn.
