Day School: Impressionism in Britain
WEA Adult Education Course - This course will explore the development of impressionist painting in Britain in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries . We will discuss the impact of the work of French artists who spent time in Britain in the 1870s, and of the exposure of young British artists to impressionist and other plein air painters when completing their training in France. We will also consider how British artists sought to popularise impressionism at home, adapting their work
