From Symbolism to Surrealism: Odilon Redon to Salvador Dali

WEA Adult Education Course - Symbolism and Surrealism share a few of their key characteristics: both harnessed the power of unbridled imagination and used dream imagery in order to explore what lies beyond the confines of the rational mind. Both also started as literary movements, visual artists joining the ranks a few years after. In this course, we will study these two movements, and we will highlight the tradition that brings them together. Going from the 1880s to the 1930s, we will consider
