WEA Adult Education Course - In May 1940, Otto Neurath arrived in England as a refugee and died here in 1945. Though largely forgotten now, he was famous in his time: as a philosopher, polymath, a pioneer in social planning, modern housing and exhibition design. He was the inventor of 'Isotype', a system of visual icons used for what we now know as Information Graphics or Visual Statistics, and was linked to most of the major figures of the day in art and science.
