Atkinson Grimshaw and James Tissot - Victorian Art, Life and Love
WEA Adult Education Course - Baudelaire's challenge to contemporary writers and artists to 'make us see how great and poetical we are in our cravats and patent leather boots' was taken up by these two artists, who depicted both English and French middle class society and its pre occupations in a fascinating and entertaining way. Unusually, both artists included their private life in their public pictures, giving us an insight into the lives of Victorian artists.
