This very professional award winning traditional Brass Band performed well-attended concerts in Martock Church soon after the Albert Hall's "Last Night of the Proms" events in 2012 and 2014. We are now delighted to announce that they will return to Martock on Saturday 16th September for a similar entertainment. Sherborne Town Band was formed in 1961 and worked its way up to the top echelons in the West Country and nationally by going in for the various annual competitions. There are founder members' sons, grandsons and grand daughters still playing in the band to this day. As early as 1965, they were crowned National 3rd section Champions of Great Britain and this was followed by several years of competing at top level in the Championship Section. They have more recently gained Top Prize in the South West Brass Band Championship.The professional Musical Director, Ian Lowes, has retired from teaching music at Bryanston School but still travels worldwide as music examiner.
