Basingstoke Fair
With The Kempshott History Group. Although the west side of Basingstoke before the 20th century was a rural area on the outskirts of little old Basingstoke, there were many things worth noting in the 17th and 18th century. Prince of Wales (later George IV) and his mistress lived in Kempshott Park, and the Basingstoke Fairs took place on what is now Down Grange Park from 1671 to1779.
