Greyfriars Church

Heritage Open Day: The Church was built in 1311 and the main elements of Greyfriars survive to this day as the most complete example of Franciscan architecture in Britain, and the oldest still being used for worship. After the dissolution of the monasteries in 1538, it became a poor hospital, workhouse and then a gaol in 1613, until 1844.
