Victorian Horningsea

Heritage Open Day: The Victorians had a huge impact on our village. At nearby Quy Fen “coprolite” - dinosaur bones - were mined to be made into fertiliser, a major source of employment locally. This year we celebrate 150 years since the Workers' March to protest poor pay and working conditions. Since then, the fen has become a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) managed by a local Trust. Funded by sales of coprolite, the church was heavily made over by 'trendy' Victor
