Sizergh - Strickland family Capel
Heritage Open Day: Open for the first time is the private chapel of the Strickland family.
In 1431, a papal bull from Eugenius IV allowed the Strickland family to use a portable altar and to hold services at Sizergh. However, the first record of a permanent chapel here is in the mid-18th century, when the former long gallery was divided by Thomas Peter Strickland to create a chapel and vestry at the east end nearest the tower (now the library).
