'HULL FISHING COMMUNITY EXHIBITION' - St John the Baptist Church, Newington
Heritage Open Day: In partnership with Alec Gill and Paul Berriff some time ago we agreed for St John the Baptist to display the “Hessle Roaders: Hull’s Fishing Community”
Hessle Roaders lived both a magic and tragic life, their community spirit linked with the perilous work of trawling Arctic Waters.
In 1971, with his Rolleicord camera around his neck, Alec Gill began to photograph the community.
His pictures captured children playing on the streets, neighbours gossiping in the terraces and
