'St James's Church' , Sutton on Hull'

Heritage Open Day: A chapel first occupied the site of the present church around 1160, built on the relatively high ridge of land stretching from Wawne towards Bilton. By 1346 the chapel was dilapidated and the Lord of the Manor, Sir John de Sutton decided to replace it with a church, creating the nave of the structure we see today built in the Decorated style.
