Chelmsford Museum – free admission and guided tour
Heritage Open Day: Chelmsford Museum is set in the lovely Victorian Grade 2 listed Oaklands House, built in 1865 in the Italianate style for the brewer, Frederick Wells, set in 12 acres of Oaklands Park off Moulsham Street. The Park has Green Flag and Heritage status. The Museum covers local and social history and has collections of archaeology, art, ceramics, Georgian drinking glasses, natural history, coins , geology and industrial history (including Marconi, Hoffmann and Crompton).
