Sandford Mill Industrial Museum
Heritage Open Day: Sandford Mill is the former Borough of Chelmsford waterworks and is in a magical rural setting minutes away from the busy city. Originally a medieval water mill, on a river spur off the Chelmer & Blackwater Navigation, the site was converted in the 1920s and again in 1950 with the addition of a chemical filter house. It was returned to the then Borough Council in the 1980s and is now used by Chelmsford Museum as its store and education centre for its industrial collections wit
