St Peter's Church Ashton Under Lyne

Heritage Open Day: St Peters Ashton Under Lyne is a listed Grade II* and is the work of F Goodwin. Built between 1821 - 1824 St Peters is the first Waterloo Church recorded in the Diocese. It is noteworthy because of the use of cast iron for elements such as the window tracery where masonry was most usually used. The striking Rose Window, at the west end has recently been refurbished, the original glass is by Evans of Shewsbury and is a excellent example of the cast iron tracery used. The Tower
