St Joseph and the English Martyrs Catholic Church, Bishop's Stortford
Heritage Open Day: While the church is normally open to the public, on Saturday 9 September, stewards will be available to answer visitors' questions. The church was completed in 1906 to a design by Doran Webb and is unusual in taking its inspiration from the Italian High Renaissance. Externally it presents a striking contrast to the mainly medieval and Georgian streetscape of Windhill and internally the basilica delivers an architectural experience unlike anywhere else in the area.
