Crampton Tower Museum

Heritage Open Day: Thomas Crampton was a leading nineteenth-century civil engineer and Broadstairs resident. He was an assistant to the elder Brunel and Daniel Gooch and designed the first locomotive ('Firefly') for the Great Western Railway. He patented the Crampton Engine in 1843 and succeeded in laying the first submarine cable (between Dover and Calais.) The Museum celebrates local history and has an engaging series of model displays - it is holding a Bus Bonanza on 20 August and
