Howsham Mill
Heritage Open Day: Come and see the recently restored Georgian watermill and swing bridge that gives access to the island on which the mill stands. Guides will be on hand to tell you the history of the mill and its more recent past and restoration. You will also be able to see the Archimedes Screw turbines and restored waterwheel that give the mill a 21st century use - generating hydro-electricity. If you wish, bring a picnic and enjoy the beautiful surroundings next to the River Derwent.
