Heritage Open Day: Consecrated around 900 AD, the body of St. Cuthbert rested here in 1060 before internment at Durham Cathedral. See our restored Memorial Chapel and Colour of Tyneside Scottish 2nd Battalion, mentioned in "Newcastle Battalions in Action of the Somme" by Neil Storey and Fiona Kay, published to mark the 100th Anniversary of the battle in 2016.
