St Michael & All Angels Church, Gt Houghton
Heritage Open Day: This is one of the few churches built during the Commonwealth period, around 1650. It is said that its simplicity found favour with Oliver Cromwell when he visited the Rodes family, residents of the Old Hall next door. The church was extensively renovated in 2013, which highlighted some of the ancient alterations, and replaced the more severely eroded sandstone blocks.
