Thundercliffe Grange Open Day

Heritage Open Day: Thundercliffe Grange is the C18th Manor House for Rotherham and Kimberworth built by the 3rd Earl of Effingham (architect the local mason/architect John Platt) and developed (a new top storey and alterations to the wings) by a later Earl in the early C19th. It is on the same estate as a Cistercian Grange, the site of early Mediaeval iron making, of which some of the excavated remains are visible.The 3rd Earl was famous for his refusal to fight against the American Colonists in
