Heritage Open Day: In 1874 Alderman William Fisher JP laid the foundation stones of Highfield and Upperthorpe Libraries, following many years of hard work to bring free libraries to the city of Sheffield. How proud he would be to know that almost 150 years later these twin buildings remain open as free, public libraries. Join us for a talk, by local library researcher Val Hewson, to find out more about this beautiful grade 2 listed building and the history of public libraries in Sheffield. U
