Medieval Undercroft
Heritage Open Day: This 15th century undercroft, at the site of Reigate's original marketplace, is built of Reigate stone with a cobbled floor. The original use of the undercroft is a matter for debate. It is probably the basement of a former merchant's house.
The ground floor of such houses, often vaulted, provided safe storage of goods, perhaps to serve as a stall or a booth outside.
The only access to this venue is via two steep flights of steps.
