St Michael and All Angels' Church, Pirbright
Heritage Open Day: A most attractive Grade II* listed Georgian church, rebuilt in 1784, with a bright open interior and an original Georgian font. Its most famous memorial is to Sir Henry Morton Stanley, the explorer, with its six-ton granite stone, inscribed ‘bula matari’ (breaker of rocks).
In the chancel is the most recent item of (future) historical interest – a stunning banner created by local embroiderers to mark the 800th anniversary in 2014 of a church on this site.
