The Banqueting House
Heritage Open Day: Nestled in the forest, The Banqueting House stands in a grassy clearing looking down towards an octagonal pool and the Derwent Valley, in the highest part of Gibside park, near the Column of British Liberty and Gibside chapel. The building’s elaborate plasterwork is best studied from the double bedroom, where it adorns the walls as well as ceiling, or from the two twin beds situated in the main living room.
