Tom Taylor with a 'Punch'

Heritage Open Day: Tom Taylor was born in Bishopwearmouth in 1817, attending Grange School in Sunderland. He went on to be an English dramatist, writer of Our American Cousin, famous as the play being performed when President Abraham Lincoln was assassinated at Ford's Theatre in Washington in 1858. He became editor of Punch in 1874. Come along to Sunderland Local Studies library for the chance to look at a selection of rarely seen editions of Punch magazine dating from the 1800's.
