Petworth, National Trust

Heritage Open Day: The 3rd Earl of Egremont was a passionate art collector and patron of the famous British artist JMW Turner. Turner spent many years during the 1820s and 1830s at Petworth painting commissions made by the 3rd Earl, and two paintings of Petworth Park can be seen in the Carved Room today. To celebrate Heritage Open Day immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the upstairs Old Library, used as an studio by the great artist JMW Turner, who used the room to paint inspirational views
