Ackworth School
Heritage Open Day: Originally a Thomas Coram foundling hospital, the site was purchased by the Society of Friends in the 1770s for the establishment of a school. The buildings are extensive and impressive. Visitors will have access to the exterior and to the main rooms on the ground floor.
The school was founded in 1779 by the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) to educate boys and girls.
