History Trail of St Mary's Church and Village

Heritage Open Day: St Mary's is located within the pretty and peaceful hamlet of Wilshaw, having just 60 homes. The church was built as a memorial to Mary, daughter of Joseph and Eleanor Hirst. Mary died in childbirth in 1859 and the foundation stone was laid in 1862 by her mother. The building is Romanesque in style with a central porch, bell tower and spire, which separate the church from the Sunday School and the Church House.
