Heritage Open Day: Lister Lane Cemetery opened as the Halifax General Cemetery in 1841 became the last resting place of some 20,000 individuals until its closure in the 1960s. Now Grade II listed in Historic England's 'Register of Historic Parks and Gardens of special historic interest in England' and recognised as a Significant Cemetery in Europe, its memorials provide an index of many people who shaped the development of Halifax.
