Leaping Salmon
Leaping Salmon is a new body of work produced by artist Rachel Ramirez following a short research residency for Queen’s Hall Arts in 2016 to explore and celebrate the annual salmon migration along the River Tyne.
Since moving to Olhão, Portugal in 2005, the main subject matter of Rachel’s work has been the fauna and flora of the shorelines and coastal waters of the Ria Formosa and North Atlantic ocean.
The majority of her images are produced using gyotaku, a traditional Japanese printmakin
