Easel: Pop Art in Britain and America
In the early 1960s Andy Warhol summed up Pop Art by saying “Everything is beautiful”. This feeling gave a licence to artists to explore popular and colourful imagery from the worlds of cinema, comic books, strip cartoons, news media, consumer goods and advertising. There has been a debate about whether Pop Art began in Britain or the US, perhaps it happened simultaneously!
