Music from Six Countries by Tallis, Guerrero, Lobo, Brahms, Bruckner, Duruflé and Stanford
Allegri Singers present a programme of unaccompanied European works beginning in Spain with multi-choir motets by Lobo, followed by 3 stunning pieces by German composer Brahms towards the end of his life and contrasted with music from his Austrian contemporary Anton Bruckner. In the second half, 3 contrasting anthems by the great English master Thomas Tallis are followed by 4 motets by Frenchman Maurice Duruflé and we end with 3 perennially popular motets by Irish composer Charles Stanford.
