Sheila Bownas: A Yorkshire Life in Pattern

A wonderful new exhibition featuring more than 100 bold and colourful patterns from the 1950's, 60's and 70s from a wonderful Yorkshire based textile designer, brought to the Mercer Art Gallery by the Sheila Bownas Archive.

Educated in Skipton, Bownas showed artistic promise from an early age. In 1941 she secured a junior art scholarship to attend Skipton Art College and later gained a county art scholarship to attend the Slade School in London and several of Sheila's paint

Open during normal gallery opening times until January 7th 2018 - 10.00am until 5.00pm Tuesday - Saturday (4pm from November 1st), 2.00pm until 5.00pm Sunday (4pm from November 1st). Closed Mondays,
