Born in Baku, Azerbaijan, Jamal made his solo debut at the BBC Proms in 2017 and won the Arts Club – Sir Karl Jenkins Music Award. He was a soloist with the Philharmonia Orchestra at the Royal Festival Hall in September and is fast becoming one of the most sought after cellists of his generation.
