Up with your Song! (Women composers 1120 - 1910)

The Friends` Musick chamber choir perform a variety of songs ranging from a 12th century plainsong composed by a nun, to Dame Ethel Smyth`s The March of the Women (words by Emmeline Pankhurst); also including16th century Italian madrigals, Epitaph on Henry Purcell (18th cent.), a 19th century setting of Shakespeare`s Tell me Where is Fancy Bred? and songs by Clara Schumann, plus traditional favourites such as Annie Lawrie & Soldier`s Farewell. Directed by Jordan Theis.
