Talk: The Lost Language of Headstones

Many of us wander around churchyards and cemeteries, tracing family members or just out of interest. Kevin Varty's illustrated talk to members of Buckinghamshire Family History Society explores the sometimes hidden meanings of the symbols which are often found carved into the headstones, revealing a lost language from the past. The talk also shows how these symbols have been used by the funeral business, especially during Victorian times.
