A Spring Garland - English madrigals and partsongs

A date for the diary for a super after-Easter treat. The Brighton Singers chamber choir offer a gorgeous concert of a cappella singing to celebrate the arrival of Spring.
Directed by Nicholas Houghton the programme includes English madrigals and partsongs across the centuries. The earliest composer is John Dowland, followed by others dating from the late 16th and early 17th centuries who will be familiar to Early Music fans. The selection continues through the years with more recent contributions by Parry, Elgar and Stanford. Featured is the exciting work Five Flower Songs by Benjamin Britten.
St Nicholas is a striking venue and the beautiful interior with its excellent acoustics makes the church a wonderful concert venue in which such a varied programme will appeal to everyone.
