Avro Vulcan and the Cold War
An illustrated talk by Richard Clarkson, secretary of the Vulcan Restoration Trust (VRT) covering the design and development of the famous delta-wing bomber, as well as its role as part of the UK’s nuclear deterrent in the Cold War from the 1950s to the 1970s. The talk also covers the Vulcan’s operational swansong in the Falklands conflict of 1982.
Richard also describes the VRT’s work preserving Avro Vulcan XL426 at London Southend Airport. The Trust, a registered charity, maintains XL426 as
