Southend: 1914-1918

Our Museums Education Lecturer will study three key themes surrounding Southend during the war: women, air raids, and POWs & aliens. We will analyse the cause, nature and consequences, of these themes in detail. The role of women will be considered in relation to the perspectives and attitudes of the time, asking whether women were applauded or ridiculed for their efforts, as well as their consequences within women's suffrage.
