The University of Portsmouth choir marks the centenary of the birth of the great American composer, conductor and educator, Leonard Bernstein, with a performance of his Chichester Psalms. Bernstein’s setting of the psalm texts in Hebrew is beautiful, tuneful, energetic and modernistic. It is performed alongside a characteristic setting of the Lord’s Prayer by the Czech composer Leoš Janácek and a choral suite drawn from The Armed Man, which the Welsh composer Karl Jenkins wrote for the Royal Arm
