World Textile Day Wales

World Textile Day Wales A wonderful day out for anyone who loves textiles. A collection of world textile traders and collectors get together for a day in this friendly market town with an exhibition of world textiles, a market place and two talks.
There are 7 World Textile Days around the country and each year we have a theme. The theme for 2020 is Crossing Borders (and border crossings!). Our guest speaker in Wales is well known textile collector, author and speaker, Angela Thompson. This amazing woman has been collecting Asian textiles, and writing and speaking about them since before most of us were born and her talks are always very entertaining. Her 11 am talk covers her journeys all the way from Japan to Turkey. At 2 pm we'll have a short talk from Bob Irwin of the African Fabric Shop on the subject of trading beads over borders in Africa, something he has done many times. This will be followed by our popular Wear and Tell and we rely on you to tell us about something you've made or bought.
Free entrance. Open from 10 am until 4.30 pm.
Talks at 11 am and 2 pm.
Talks tickets are available on the day and cost £3 each or £5 for both. Good cheap parking available close by. Demonstrations by The Braid Society and the local Quilters, and tea, coffee and cakes served by the Quilt Association.
