The Enlightened Mr Parkinson
James Parkinson is now remembered for his 1817 Essay on the Shaking Palsy which first defined the condition we now know as Parkinson’s Disease. More than this he was a surgeon, geologist, vaccinator and political activist who put his own life on the line when he became embroiled in a supposed plot to kill King George III. In this talk Dr Cherry Lewis will examine the many achievements of this most remarkable man.
Tickets cost £5. Please note the talk will take place in the Old Cyder House Conference Centre at the museum. Doors open at 7pm, the talk commences at 7:30pm.
